The fog of grief makes doing tedious paperwork even more difficult. Here are some areas you may want to make sure you look into:
-Child tax credit qualifications (Only children born alive qualify to apply for the child tax credit, even if the child lived only briefly.)
-Social Security Number (Only children born alive qualify to apply and receive a social security number.)
-Birth Certificate & Death Certificate (Only stillborn children qualify for certificates in Indiana. If your child does not qualify, and you’d like to print a Recognition of Life certificate for personal use, you can find those here in our digital downloads for free.)
-Placental pathology options
-Genetic testing options
Programs that can help:
The Kate Cares Stillbirth Assessment Program help families find answers to more questions about why their baby was stillborn, calculates the chances of stillbirth happening in future pregnancies, and looks at what can be done in future pregnancies to help prevent stillbirth from happening again.
