Amos’ Anchors is committed to the life-long, personal work of being anti-racist. We recognize the drastic disparities of care for Black families, especially as it pertains to prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and after facing PAIL (pregnancy and infant loss) and we are working with members in our community to bring light to the topic and resources to improving care.
While we seek to provide resources that all families can access without the fear of being mistreated, we know that racism is systemic and often hidden from plain sight. If you know of any additional helpful resources for us to list here, or if you have found any resources to be problematic, please do not hesitate to contact us at amosanchors@gmail.com.
Shades Of Becoming A Mom
Founded by Tieree Reid and serving Indianapolis and the surrounding area, “Shades of Becoming a Mom (SBM) is a Christian, non-profit organization that provides resources, guidance, and support primarily to Black women grieving the loss of a baby in pregnancy or infancy. We serve to alleviate cultural barriers experienced by Black women during pregnancy, after delivery, and throughout the grief process. Our active presence in the local community and partnerships with medical professionals helps to reduce Black maternal mortality. SBM acknowledges and affirms all women who have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, sudden infant death syndrome, or infancy.” Resources collated by SBM are listed here on their site. If you or someone you know needs support immediately, text or call 317-689-7006.
